Recommendation on a personal note
Hi, my name is Dr. Iris Salomon Har Even, I am a veterinarian in the north of the country. I graduated 20 years ago at the University of Kosice, Slovakia.
My journey began in India, in 1995, where I decided that one of my goals in life was to help animals, to learn Veterinary medicine.
Shortly thereafter, I enrolled in Italian studies to prepare myself for studies in Italy.
My uncle, Moshe Hadar, a Holocaust survivor from Slovakia, convinced me to aim for studies in Slovakia, partly because the studies are in English.
In 1997, I began studying at this wonderful university, which opened its doors to international studies In the English language.
Many of us came from Israel and other countries in the world.
From the first moment we were surrounded by a Slovak team that took care of everything we needed, both in terms of studies and in terms of life in Kosice, Slovakia. The team included management personnel and lecturers from the various departments.
The choice to study there, turned out a short time later, to be a perfect choice.
6 years of practical studies, from the very beginning, with in-depth study and full experience in the medicine of pets, horses, poultry, farm animals and wild animals. Beyond studies, we didn't miss skiing and snowboarding, classes at an amazing level, yoga with the best teachers in Europe, trekking almost every weekend, horseback riding, forays into European countries, fun spending time on holidays, at special events and in general in the lively city.
When I finished in Košice, I continued to guide trips In Europe and to this day I am an official instructor in Slovakia, so I continue to be in Slovakia many times a year. Slovakia is my second home.
My veterinary colleagues, with whom I am still in a warm and close relationship, stand out throughout the country in various fields, from clinical medicine of pets, livestock, horses, poultry, Authority medicine, laboratory doctors, etc.
Throughout the years I have kept in touch with the lecturers and the university and in 2017, during the 25th anniversary celebrations of the international program for foreign students, I was a partner in organizing the event.
I am available for any questions or concerns.
Yours,
Iris 052-3827627

About Slovakia and Kosice

Slovakia, the "green heart of Europe" Slovakia, known today as the Slovak Republic, is a landlocked country in central Europe.
The country borders Poland to the north, Hungary to the south, the Czech Republic to the west, Austria to the southwest and Ukraine to the east. Slovakia was created as an independent country in 1993 after the dissolution of Czechoslovakia.
In 2004, Slovakia joined the European Union and NATO and its official currency is the euro.
About 5.5 million inhabitants live in Slovakia, its area is 2.3 times the area of the State of Israel and the language spoken is Slovak (in certain areas Hungarian, Polish and Ukrainian).
The manufacturing industries in Slovakia include agriculture mainly cereals, fruit, wine grapes, tobacco and raising cattle, pigs, sheep, poultry and eggs. Slovak industry mainly produces textiles, footwear, iron, steel, zinc and plastics.
The country has natural treasures such as natural gas, oil, brown coal, lignite, iron and wood.
Most of Slovakia's residents live in Bratislava, the capital city, and therefore a large part of Slovakia is uninhabited and characterized by a wild and primitive nature.
Most of Slovakia's territory is mountainous, especially in the northern part where the Carpathian Mountains are located, starting in Bratislava and continuing to the Transylvania region in Romania.
The highest peaks are in the Tatra mountain range, a range that is alpine and characterized by high peaks, narrow valleys and glacial lakes.
The Danube is the largest river in southern Slovakia.
Slovakia is a habitat for many wild animals such as bears, mountain goats, wolves, marmots and many birds of prey.
In 2013, the Lonely Planet guide announced Slovakia as one of the ten most recommended, most beautiful and best destinations in the world.
Slovakia has amazing landscapes, many attractions, spectacular nature reserves, ancient cities, many castles and fortresses, ski resorts, ice caves and stalactites, many hiking trails, bike trails and ancient villages.
The variety of hiking options in the spectacular nature is almost endless.
There are many caves in Slovakia (2,400 caves) and many caves are still being discovered there.
Slovakia is considered one of the best places in the world for exploring caves.
The entrance prices to the various sites in Slovakia are cheap compared to Western Europe and the food prices are relatively cheap.
Slovakia is an excellent destination for star tours due to its small area and the wide variety of nearby tourist sites.
In Slovakia there are also many conservation sites of the UNESCO organization.
Kosice is the second largest city in Slovakia and is located in the east of the country.
The city is located next to the Hornad River and has about 240,000 inhabitants, yet everything in it is convenient and accessible. In the city there are several universities, museums, galleries and the largest old town in Slovakia, which also has the longest pedestrian street in Slovakia.
Many festivals, cultural events, markets and sports events are held in the city.
Along the ancient, 800-year-old pedestrian street, impressive and ancient buildings in Art Nouveau, Baroque, Renaissance and Gothic styles are scattered, such as the magnificently beautiful St. Elizabeth's Cathedral, the Royal Theater and the musical fountain combined with jets of water according to the rhythm of the music. The sight is especially spectacular at night when the fountain is lit up and crowded. In the charming pedestrian street there are also many cafes, restaurants, pubs and many young people.
The city is surrounded by forests and mountains and is an excellent base for trips to the wild nature reserves and the high Tatras.
A point of Jewish history: until World War II, many Jews lived in the city and community life was extensive and full of influence on the surrounding population.
This flourishing Judaism was cut off in 1944 with the transports from Hungary.
The city's Jews are currently active in the Jewish area of the Old City, in community buildings, some of which are active on holidays.
